LC Traduzioni is not a translation agency: it’s a dream. My dream.
It started with a single translator, but the scope is a broad and mutual collaboration, ideally a sort of non-profit organization of translators. At present, it’s just me, Lidia Capone, absolute beginner of freelance translation. There’s a long way to go, first of all for me. But I’ve much patience. Much confidence. Many dreams, also. There will be the time when I’ll be able to see this idea come to life. Let’s see it through, then!
About the blog’s author: Lidia Capone
Italian native translator from English and German to Italian, spec. technical documents and website contents.
Born almost four and half decades ago in the sunny southern Italy under the sign of Taurus. Stubborn and practical. Basically down to earth. Accurate and attentive.
She studied translation and interpretation at the Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori of Naples, awarding a University Degree as Interpreter, Translator and Language Specialist in 1991, then a Bachelor’s Degree in Interpretation in 1993.
For personal reasons, she gave up the freelance career quite soon, but kept constantly in touch with languages: in 1992, receptionist and interpreter at the Hotel Punta Licosa, Italian hotel facilities located in Ogliastro Marina (SA) and managed by an English tour operator. In the years 1992-1994, conference hostess for several PR companies.
In 1994 she began working at FAST s.r.l., an automation engineering company based in Marcianise (CE), first as secretary and sales assistant, then also as translator for the company clientele. In 2001, due to the closure of FAST, she moved to TND Elettronica s.r.l., head company of the group, where she continued working as translator, though discontinuously. Among her duties, translation, updating and enhancing of the company website (www.tndel.com), as well as the translation of all technical documentation of appliances and systems supplied to foreign customers.
In the meantime, she continued – as far as possible – to translate on a freelance basis, among her works the translation in English of the website of a leather manufacturer, Massimo Frattasio (www.massimofrattasio.it) and a collaboration with a leading e-commerce company for the translation of website contents.
In September 2012, owing to several reasons (personal and professional) she decided to intensify her work as freelancer and to focus on effective marketing strategies: enhancing visibility on the web, designing a personal logo and developing a D.I.Y. website (under construction), launching a Facebook page, joining translators’ directories and portals. WP is her latest step. Stay posted on the next ones!
