The story of this translation is quite odd: one fine evening I was on my comfy couch, messing around on Facebook, when suddenly I received a message from an unknown sender, Tim ‘O Rourke. He asked me if I translated young adult books too and wanted to know an approximate price. At first I thought the message was a fake – who might try to get in touch with a translator via Facebook? – and asked him to contact me via e-mail. He did it. He introduced himself as the author of the best-selling Kiera Hudson Series (I must confess I didn’t ever hear about it) and told me that the series was already translated in French and German and that he wanted to approach the Italian public. Being an independent writer, he found the price of that translation quite a big sum to put at stake so easily, so he asked me to quote the translation of a shorter book, i.e. Werewolves of Shade. The price sounded fair to him and the assignment was mine. I must confess fantasy was not among my fave genres, but its reading turned out to be really pleasant and translating it was a lot of fun. If you like mysteries in general, you will surely like this one, it’s a blend of fantasy and thriller with a touch of seduction.
The next chapter will be released in autumn and it won’t disappoint the reader, I can assure you. I hope you will like it as much as I did, first of all because Tim is a great person and a gifted writer, secondly … because I wish I can translate the whole series, of course!
